A video of a Zimbabwean reenacting Mugabe signing his resignation has gone viral

A Zimbabwean man pretends to be Mugabe as he signs his resignation, he exaggerates the shaky movements of the 93-year-old statesman and fumbles with his glasses.

While he is doing this the crowd gives mock encouragement for the 'president' to sign his resignation on a scrap piece of paper.

Briefly.co.za learned that some have called the video extremely disrespectful while others saw the funny side of it and perceived it as a joke.

Years of repressed anger has surfaced, for many years the police would harshly punish anyone who criticised the president. A video like this one would have meant a prison sentence a few weeks ago.

Robert Mugabe resigned after leading the country for 37-years after the military, his own party and the people of Zimbabwe demanded that he step down.

Mugabe signed his resignation after a tense stand-off moments after the official process to impeach him had begun in parliament.

The elderly former statesman has received a massive golden handshake as well a generous pension and immunity from prosecution.
