- A loving father sacrificed his comfortable home to protect his daughter
- He started living on the street alongside his daughter to make sure that she is safe
- The devoted father hopes to help his daughter beat the addiction
Parents would do anything to save their children from working two jobs, skipping meals so their children can eat and sacrificing themselves if necessary.
Paul DiGiacomo went a step further, his daughter Meghan is addicted to heroin and lives on the streets of Boston. She lives in a makeshift camp not far from a methadone clinic which could give her a safe alternative to heroin and eventually ween herself off the drug.
However, Meghan lacks the willpower to take the necessary steps to save herself, despite her boyfriend died of a drug overdose the year before.
Paul has started living on the streets and set up his camp alongside his daughters, he has sacrificed his comfort and health to make sure his daughter is safe and protected.
He made the decision a month ago, Paul was watching TV with his wife Julie Chandler. At this point, the couple did not know if Meghan was even alive. While watching TV a documentary was exploring drug addiction and homelessness in Boston.
The couple could barely believe their eyes when one of the people interviewed was their daughter. Paul found where his daughter was sleeping and moved in 'next door'.
She was surprised to see her dad and he told her that he is not going anywhere until she either gets help or goes to the hospital. With a devoted dad like Paul, Meghan has a good chance of beating her addiction and saving her life.
