- Photos from a bizarre mass wedding have gone viral
- A group of women said to be environmental activists tied the knot with trees
- The wedding was organised by Peruvian artist and activist Richard Torres
Many would find it weird to get married to an inanimate object for any cause. However, a group of young ladies who are environmental activists came together recently and tied the knot with trees.
The priest who oversaw the wedding, a Peruvian artist and activist named Richard Torres, is widely known for his pro-tree performances. Torres blessed the young women who were wearing white wedding dresses. They vowed to belong to the trees for the rest of their lives.
Briefly.co.za learned that, according to reports, Torres acted as a priest, while the brides were local actresses he had persuaded to perform for the occasion.
The bizarre wedding happened in the Peruvian capital, Lima. Leaves were used in place of confetti and the brides kissed their tree husbands as they vowed to be together forever.
Photos from the strange event have been making the rounds online with everyone wondering whether the tree ritual really reflects the care for for the environment they were trying to portray.
