It was all smiles for the Nigerian woman, identified simply as Folake, whose healthy transformation has left the internet in amazement.
Infected with HIV, her health had drastically deteriorated before she started receiving treatment at a CDC/IHVN-supported treatment site in Lagos under the PEPFAR program. She also received support under the U.S. Ambassador’s Small Grants Program.
Posting her before and after photos, the U.S Mission Nigeria took to their Twitter account to express delight over the progress of Folake's health in a caption:"Folake is receiving HIV treatment at a CDC/IHVN-supported treatment site in Lagos under the PEPFAR program and also received support under the U.S. Ambassador’s Small Grants Program #WorldAIDSDay"
Briefly.co.za learned that the PEPFAR program, aimed at improving the health of people especially children, is set out to provide HIV treatment services to children and orphans around the world infected with HIV. It also aims to ensure good health and improve the lives of people living with the virus while reaching out to communities as well.
