"I beg your pardon" SABC anchor accidentally announces Buthelezi's death seconds before talking to him

- SABC news anchor Peter Ndoro accidentally announced the death of the wrong person

- The person he said had died just happened to be the person he was about to interview

- Ndoro apologised for the mistake but Twitter had some fun with the incident

Twitter didn't miss the mistake this SABC anchor made while announcing the death of a prominent person. Peter Ndoro accidentally said that Mangosuthu Buthelezi had died, moments before greeting Mangosuthu Buthelezi for a telephone interview.

Ndoro was supposed to announce the death of Bantustan of Bophuthatswana leader Lucas Manyane Mangope. He realised his mistake shortly after greeting Buthelezi.

Briefly.co.za learned that Buthelezi is understandably slightly confused by the announcement of his own death. The clip is short but it still went viral according to news24.com.

Ndoro issued an apology for his mistake.

"It was my fault entirely. It happens sometimes you think about another person as you want to say someone else’s name. I only realised afterwards what I had done. I’m sure it has happened to us all. Being human is not an exact science. An honest slip of the mind. Sorry", he wrote on Twitter.

Twitter did as twitter always does and had some fun at the hapless anchor's expense.
